As new parents, you learn one lesson very quickly. There is nothing in the world, no matter how foolish, that you won’t do to hear the sound of your child laughing and to see them smile.
When Lilly was tiny, she was a tough crowd. While we could get her to smile easily enough, but having her give one of those great full out baby laughs was nearly impossible. She was just so reserved. Of course, that only fueled the challenge and had us trying even harder.
I’m sure anyone who witnessed it assumed we’d lost our sanity in child birth…
But that’s part of the magic of little ones and their laughter. It is so addictive that you are willing to do just about anything to hear it again, and if we’re lucky, catch it on film. An advantage of parents today is that so many of us have a camera more readily on hand to try to capture those amazing smiles and giggles.
As Lilly has gotten older, her smile has changed and grown into an amazing sight that can light up an entire room. Likewise, her giggles are much more readily available. It has been incredible to watch her sense of humour and excitement develop through her personality and expressions.
Like many other smartphone wielding parents, I try to capture as much of these moments as I can.
Now, although our playful German Shepherd can really get Lilly giggling, one thing is sure to always bring a huge smile to her face.
Her Daddy.

I was just thinking I needed to do a Thankful Thursday post as I really don’t take time to be thankful enough….You kinda just did it for me! I have 5 kids all under 10 and it is amazing how each one has a laugh and smile that will melt your heart—as well as personality to drive me to the looney bin. Its a small thing but something to be VERY thankful for! LOVED the reminder!
